The Kieron Garrett Quartet

Classically trained on piano and tuba, Kieron played in various orchestras and ensembles for many years before forming the Kieron Garratt Quartet, and, later, his funk project Synthonic. He has performed at some of the UK’s most famous venues including Ronnie Scott’s, 606 Club, the Jazz Café, Pizza Express Jazz Club and the Royal Albert Hall. He has shared stages with some of the UK’s finest musicians including Dave O’Higgins, Tony Kofi and Vasilis Xenopoulos, with, so far, two albums with his Quartet and several with Synthonic. At the Albany Club, the quartet will be including some classic funk from the likes of Herbie Hancock, Billy Cobham and Cannonball Adderley.

“I first saw Kieron over 10 years ago at Stratford Jazz Club. Being a massive fan of funk and jazz funk, the music instantly floated my boat. Knowing I could book such incredible talent at a local venue was my main inspiration for wanting help run Jazz Coventry. If you’re looking for an easy, mesmeric, route into jazz and jazz funk, don’t miss this guy. In my humble opinion, the funkiest keyboard player in the country who would easily compete on a world stage”.    Neil McGowan – Jazz Coventry
