Tim Amann xTet

As well as being one of the most talented pianists in the region, Tim Amman has emerged as a top class arranger and composer, combining his full time teaching post at King Edward's, Aston with his regular seat with Andy Hamilton and the Blue Notes, and leading his own small group, the xTet. His melodic style, and his fresh versions of classic and modern jazz standards, along with his own thoughtful and original compositions, have given the xTet a dynamic and modern sound without straying too far from the mainstream.

The xTet features members of the award winning Walsall Jazz Orchestra. The xTet plays melodic and soulful contemporary jazz, focusing primarily on original compositions, with themes ranging from Celtic and East European folk styles through blues to gospel, with influences from Michael Brecker and Steps Ahead to Miles Davis and the Jazz Messengers. Tim has performed alongside an impressive list of international jazz heavyweights, including Art Farmer, Scott Hamilton, Enrique Pla, Courtney Pine, Tim Garland, Dave O’Higgins, Guy Barker, Tim Whitehead, Dennis Rollins, Art Themen, Bobby Wellins and Don Rendell.

With Ray Butcher on trumpet, Sam Rogers on Sax, Adam Gilchrist on Bass, and Aidan Amann on drums.
